cemetary!!!! and my sick brasilian companion

one of the craziest trips ive ever had to a cemetary!!

we found brooms and a skull!

Jesse - February 2, 2015

thought i would throw in a little Portuguese in there for my comp:P another week down and now we've found ourselves in february!! i say it often but time is getting carried away now! this week was a little nuts with all the things we did but one of the funnest things that we did was that we went to a grave yard here in our area. i will probably attach some pictures that we took to this message if the computer lets me. the graveyard was really full though...with bodies i mean, dead ones. jaja we even found a skull while we were searching for a bathroom, that was pretty gross i think my companion touched it.
as for the spiritual part of things the work is going great! this tuesday we have `planned divisiones with our lider misional and a young man who is preparing to go on a mission. its been really good to see the difference in the ward since Venancio and i started working together, we've seen a lot of miracles in just 3 weeks! now we only have three weeks left, it kinda sucks because we really get along and we make the work fun for us and for the people we teach.

another good thing that happened this sunday is that all the investigators that we have baptismal dates with, went to church!! yeah i know there are only three but it was still great! sabrina, ezequiel, and noelia! they are all progressing still and its good to see that in them. each one is different and has their own trials but we love them all. another blessing for me especially, is that my companion isnt dying quite as bad as elder cornejo was when he was going home!!! that has really been good on me and has made things easier. i just like making fun of him and telling him stuff to make him homesick sometimes but hes a great guy! not much more to tell yall but i do love you! ohh and my last companion, elder holmes is still in piñeyro and said that he got robbed!! yeah he said his companion isnt as intimidating as i am so they got cornered and they got there backpacks stolen... But im still good!!!:) Chauuu!!!

Not so weekly Report of a Scottish cumber-bun

This week has been good, and bad, and ugly. Anyways, The really cool investigator that we found said that she believed everything, that she could feel that it was true, we taught her the Plan of Salvation and she loved it. We set up another cita with her to go to a baptism in our district. On the day of the baptism we got a call from her saying that she couldn't go with us to the baptism because her husband was fighting against her. My heart dropped. She was ready to get baptized, she just had to be taught. So now we can't go back to her house because her husband doesn't want us. We did anyways and met her father, and I think we got him our side. Two out of eight Woo Hoo. And truthfully, even though we were told not to go back, she said that she would call us when we could, and also I feel like this isn't over, this is not going to be over. We are going to win. Sorry got a little inspirational speech going right there.
Other then that our week was kinda normal, well as normal as you can get with two jovenes roaming the streets of a foreign country. One Latino trying to learn english and one gringo trying to learn spanish its a great mix. W have so much fun, E' Beja is really into metal music and so we always change the word to the parts we know and to the parts we don't know we just kinda mumble. E' Beja got permision to go to BYU, so thats super cool, we're super excited.
Now for the explanation behind the title. As you know fardos  (I asked Anthony what a fardo was - this is the explanation -  The age old question. its a really big bag of compressed clothing, in our case ties. there are around 200 ties in each one, with other things mixed in, its really heavy, I need to take a picture of one before and after. its kinda impressive, I now have alot of ties.) are the cool thing to do for P-Day around here, so some elders in our house bought a fardo and brought it home. While we were shuffling through it we found alot of things other then ties. Among these things we found a cumber-bun, plaid and so I put it on (naturally) and E' Anderson said something about the cumber-bun, and without thinking I said, in my best Scottish accent " Its not just a cumber-bun, its a Scottish cumber-bun", so now it is the joke of the house. Well thats about it.
Love you all and hope you have a great week.

what another crazy week! or in other words, we are doing work!!
we managed to accomplish another 20 lessons this week which is still really great! and i think what is even better is that they´re quality lessons and not just lessons we want to teach to have good numbers. we have 3 dates set for the 21 of February so we are hoping praying and teaching so that these wonderful people can progress a little bit more. but i think that the biggest and best news of this week was a message that i got from Maxi Esquivel! for those of you who don't know him he is my second baptism that i had in the mission who was baptized in 2013. this week my companion and i were in the middle of a lesson when maxi called me to tell me that he had received his mission call!! that really stubborn kid that i taught over a year ago now has progressed so much i cried when he told me! he received his mission call to serve in colombia!!! he leaves before i even finish my mission!!! he reports to the MTC in 6 de may. and even cooler than that is i get to go through the temple with him! im so stoked!! i think its just another way of my heavenly father to keep giving it all ive got and i will be able to see more of those fruits! i honestly cant ask for more right now and i couldn't be happier than when i get to see another person progress! we also had our interviews with president thurgood yesterday and those went super well, it gave me a lot more desires to jest keep giving it my best for these last 5 months. president even said i MIGHT  get to train next transfer so lets see if i get me a son!!! haha i need to leave a heritage! ohh and i think that the only thing that sucks here in my area is that we are dang close to the airport! the planes literally fly over our area with the landing gear out and ready. and my comp only has 28 days left so we are constantly reminded of just how close that date is. i love you all and just to let you all know, dont ever ever clean out the buildup of ice in the fridge with a knife....i punctured the gas pipe on accident and we had to eat all the food we had in one day. luckily we really didnt have anything in there but it ruined my milk and nesquick which is pretty much my protein drink:P i love you all!!

Anthony - January 21, 2015

This week was better then last week. We have found some more people to teach and they are Golden. One said that we were sent to her in her time of need. Her name is Tatiana and well she has a friend who is catholic and wanted her to go to church. She also wanted her to burn candles and stuff like that, but she said that it was her decision to do what she wanted. She went to church but felt it was wrong to adore idles. When we heard that we were like cha-ching. The cool thing was that we found her while fasting, we were both pretty tied and decided to contact one more street, and she was the first house we contacted. We have only had one lección with her so hopefully everything works out. The other one we found while she was watering her plants. She has a son that just got back from, or is in America, I still can't figure out which one. Anyways we went by her house alot but could never catch her at home. Finally we passed by at the right moment and got in. It is pretty awesome.
I have found that on my mission I am able to do things that I was not able to do before, like speak spanish, or play sports, complete a Rubik cube, things like that. Hopefully it stays with me for all my life. But yeah thats my week. Love you all and hope you have an awesome week.

another week down! there was literally not a moment that we weren't working this week. not that i didn't work the other weeks though, I'm just really determined that this brazilian is going to end his mission in a good way and not like some others who tend to die towards the end. we managed to get in 22 lessons with less actives and investigators which is actually really good!! especially because we are in a branch and not a ward. i got here right when they changed the bishopric again so we are kinda in that growing and learning process of the branch. the blessings this week were really obvious though, literally almost every house we touched there was someone on the other side waiting for us. and a lot of the times they were with friends who were willing to sit through a lesson with us. and when elder venancio told me that the attendance is usually about 50 or 55 we had set a goal to get it up to 75 by the time the transfer ends. well turns out that all but 2 people that we had visited in the week showed up yesterday and the attendance ended up being 82. so like i said it was really easy to see the blessings. we are working really good together, we get along and teach great off one one another. everyday we wake up to a message from another elder who leaves in February, so thanks to those messages we know very well that my comp has 34 days left in his mission.today for zz-day we made some tacos to celebrate me being a white mexican. they turned out really good!! and i don't know if i told you mom, but i like bell-peppers now. we even had a competition to see who could eat the most uncooked mmm good stuff!! I'm excited to what this week will bring, the challenges, blessings, lessons, laughs, and spirit. les quiero mucho!!! no se que mas decir...por eso estoy escribiendo en castallano:P aaahhh si! tambien esta lloviendo y vamos a jugar a la pelota en la lluvia!!!! chau!!!!!
